WAVES Global Indigenous Language Summit / WAVES 2025 Language Summit

The Skins Workshops were invited to attend the 2025 WAVES Language Summit, held this year in Ottawa. This conference focuses on Indigenous language revitalization, with a focus on promoting and championing all Indigenous languages in Canada and support for global Indigenous language revitalization efforts.

We had a booth in the 7Gen space, a dedicated area shining a spotlight on key social media influencers, youth advocates and youth-oriented programming. Summit participants were able to stop by our booth, pick up some swag and try out some of the games produced by the Skins Workshops such as He Au Hou.

The team presented alongside Skins alumni, Kahentawaks Tiewshaw, about the intersection of video games, culture and language in an on-stage interview.

While we don’t often attend summits, we had a great time meeting like-minded advocates and language learners!
