Kahnawake Survival School / 7th Gen Character Design++

The Skins team returns to Kahnawake Survival School for another year of workshops! This time we worked with the students to design their 7th Gen descendant characters and bring them to life as a 3D model using the program, Blender. Over the course of 13 sessions, we worked with the students to teach them the basics of character design and 3D modelling.
The students first designed their characters on paper, encouraged to iterate and explore their idea of the future. Once they were happy with their character, we moved to a digital environment to start to learn the basics of 3D modelling. They learned to sculpt each part of the character model; UV unwrap them and colour the model with the help of the application Photopea. The resulting models showcased the creativity of the students in the wide variety of characters. We’re excited to continue working with KSS and show more ways of working with Blender, and other software.
