A website for the Skins 5.0 Workshop on Aboriginal Storytelling and Video Game Design, held at Hālau ‘Īnana in Honolulu, 17 July - 4 August, 2017

IIF

The Initiative for Indigenous Futures (IIF) is a partnership of universities and community organizations dedicated to developing multiple visions of Indigenous peoples tomorrow in order to better understand where we need to go today. Through its four main components –workshops, residencies, symposia, and archive– IIF encourages and enables artists, academics, youth and elders to imagine how we and our communities will look in the future.

Kanaeokana

Kanaeokana’s mission is to collaboratively develop and strengthen a Native Hawaiian education system—built on a strong ʻōlelo Hawai‘i and ʻike Hawai‘i foundation—to strengthen the lāhui and grow the next generations of aloha ‘āina leaders.

AbTeC

Aboriginal Territories in Cyberspace is a research network whose goal is to ensure Indigenous presence in online environments, video games, and virtual worlds. Co-founded by Skawennati and Jason Edward Lewis, AbTeC launched IIF in 2015 in partnership with Concordia University, Kahnawake Education Centre, Kanien’keháka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa Language and Cultural Center, Kontinónhstats Mohawk Language Custodians Association, Dechinta Bush University Centre for Research and Learning, ImagineNATIVE Film + Media Festival, MacKenzie Gallery, Behaviour Interactive, University of British Columbia Okanagan’s Centre for Indigenous Media Arts, and Western Arctic Moving Pictures.
