imagineNATIVE / 7th Gen++ Nomad

The skins team is back at the imagineNATIVE film and media arts festival to hold a workshop on “The Future Imaginary with Nomad Sculpt”. The workshop started with a thoughtful discussion of character design within the context of the Future Imaginary. As a group we each shared our unique vision of the distant future and discussed how it would affect the future generations. Each participant spent time brainstorming on paper how to visually represent their idea of the future through the design of their character. This brainstorming is an important part of the creative process as it encourages iteration and further exploration of the design.

After finalizing our characters on paper, we moved to the application Nomad Sculpt to bring them to life in the digital space. We went through the basics of 3D modelling by building their characters piece by piece with the help of a premade body base. Participants learned how to customize the body, model different types of clothing and create custom accessories to bring their design to life. By the end of our workshop, each participant created a 3D model of their own and learned valuable skills to continue their creative journey.
