Wemindji Youth Centre / 7th Gen Character Design

This was the first workshop with youth from Wemindji in support of Concordia PhD candidate Nafisa Sarwath’s research project on contemporary land-based activities in the Cree community. Working with hosts at the Wemindji Youth Centre, Skins Workshops Associate Director Maize Longboat and Nafisa led a paper-and-pencil 7th Gen Character Design workshop in which participants were prompted to imagine and sketch a descendant of theirs who lives seven generations in the future. The large group of youth took the ideas and ran with them, drawing and discussing throughout the session.
