Ioane Goodhue

Welina ke aloha e ka mea heluhelu. My name is Ioane Kahuapono Goodhue and I am from Kahaluʻu on the island of Oʻahu. I am a lifelong learner of the Hawaiian language and a product of the Hawaiian immersion school system. As a proud father of two, I am honored at the opportunity to continue my commitment to the language as now my children are schooled in the medium. I graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi, Mānoa in 2004 with bachelor’s degrees in Hawaiian Language and Ethnic Studies and will begin graduate school in the Fall under the Communications department. I have held a wide array of occupations, ranging from non-profit work to bartending and I have learned a lot about Hawaiʻi and its people in the process. I truly believe that reshaping Hawaiʻi’s creative and educational landscape to include more Hawaiian voices will be beneficial to all people of these islands, and I relish in the opportunity to lend my efforts in this cause.
